♟️🌿 Checkmate with a Green Mind! 🌿♟️

We’re excited to unveil Green Mind, which is Hillwood College’s brand new outdoor chess space nestled in our lush Green Education Park! 🌱✨

Officially opened on July 8, 2025, this unique spot blends the calm of nature with the sharp focus of chess, where every smart move is also a step toward sustainability. Under the shade of our green canopy, students now play, learn, and grow, both on the board and beyond it.

This milestone was made possible thanks to the incredible support of our Vice Principal, Mrs. Mandula Kularatne. This initiative was carried out based on a concept by POG Ms. Surani Galagoda and the Teacher in charge of chess, Ms. Sunandi Narasinghe.

Special thanks to Mrs. Ayesha Dodanwela and the Arkya Media Unit for allowing us to use the cement tables that had been installed through the Green Hillwood project.

We’re deeply grateful to our Principal, Mrs. Asha Vidanapathirana, our Chess Coach, Mr. Rajendra Kalugampitiya, and all the distinguished guests who made the first move and brought this vision to life.
